Cuba is an Island Nation in Caribbean, famous because of its communist rule very near to Capitalist American rule and thereby rivalry with America.

Its real purpose is to prevent the statue from cracking as the material expands and shrinks, but it makes the statue look like a bank. As our professor joked, it was a fitting symbol of the regime’s selling out, or at least capitalizing, on Che’s revolutionary chicness.
